After 15 years of studying  about Taoism and Inner Alchemy alone, a lot of doubts and questions had arisen. Now, after the workshop,  the doubts have been  cleared up,  and I have my answers. Damo Qigong and the Taoist Inner Alchemy, made me feel and understand the Qi in an effective way, what makes me healthy and my day much more enjoyable. Thanks to Master Hu and Muriel for show us how wonderful is the immortality way.

I was very glad to see our email. Apologies for my not so prompt reply though. Iv been in and out of training and recovery from training since the day you guys left. It has been quiet an intense journey and i am enjoying ever nano second of it!! I am taking A practice, one a month from my notes and applying into to my morning and night meditations as I review my notes a page a day. The course was so intense it will take me many months to even grasp half of everything we learnt. I am very please with the teachings we received from yourself and Master Hu. Again thank you with in two weeks my spiritual journey has moved forward more so then in my average three years of everyday life. If that makes sense? I would be happy to help yourself Master Hu and any of his endevours in anyway i can.

Dear Master Hu

I wanted to follow up on my attendance at the 2011 Workshop and let you know how pleased I was with the content and the presentation. It was beyond my expectations.
The Taoist Yoga and Qigong exercises have been noticeably helpful for some of my spinal issues and osteoarthritis  and I look forward each day to practicing one or more sets.
Your  meditation and Alchemy  instruction was the highlight of the course for me and although  I had only been practicing on my own for a couple of years your intensive guidance has provided what was needed to progress to much higher levels. I feel safe and confident in my practice of "small waterwheel" now and I will let you know of my progress
and any questions I have along the way.
All of the staff was wonderful. Master Zhang and his students were amazing in teaching the Wudang Tai Chi Chuan in such a short time and  Muriel was the perfect complement to your teachings and a great teaching coordinator and was particularly a great help to me when I got "stuck in the woods" for a time in the middle of the course. And of course we all loved Miao Miao who is #1tour guide and helped us all get where we needed on time with a smile.
I have a great respect for you and the  culture, wisdom and teachings of  Taoism and I  hope to see you all again in Wudang Shan

Master Hu,
First I would like to thank you for your willingness to share the teachings and hard work you have put into your practise of Taoism. You have a great ability to transcend the classical text and teachings of the Tao into a understanding for the current western mind. My understanding of the Yi Ching, Chuang Tzu and consciousness as a whole has greatly improved thanks to you. I would also like to share a personal experience I had in meditation on day 6 of the class. First let me say that a month prior to the class there was a very troubling situation within my family. During meditation I was filled with a feeling of great gratitude and forgiveness for my self and everyone else in my family the class the world! that feeling lasted for two days, during that time 80% of the cough/chest congestion had had vanished! Till this day I have greater peace over the situation in my family and in my life. I am very grateful for the space you provided for this healing to occur.

Dear Master Hu.

After meditating and listening to your lectures I really felt incredibly fine. It is really beautiful to every day and try to follow your manners, this is dear to my heart. I decided to translate your words to my language so many other people can know about your teaching. I will send you special copy once it is made. Each sentence of your lecture is like golden word that fall gently to my soul, so fragrant, and full of grace, purity it is difficult to find correct words to describe it. Practical meditation helps me to find myself.

Thank you 10000 times for all your words and grace. I’m sending you a photo of sacred beings traveling with you. You are really blessed.

With profound respect,

Although I began practicing Taoist healing arts more than 20 years ago, and have been teaching for some years, I still found myself in 'seeker' mode in the summer of 2006. It was chance -- or synchronicity -- that took me to the website of DaMo Qigong & Taoist Internal Alchemy. Uncharacteristically, I signed up for the 2006 Wudang Journey, with few expectations, but an open mind.

The course with Teacher Hu was seminal for me. Presented in an accessible, low-key manner, it provided insights, teaching and practices that were new to me, even after many years of practice. In my own experience, the Inner Alchemy practices, as taught by Teacher Hu, engender an inner stillness, awareness, and intensely tangible field of energetics / Qi. My previous alchemy practices required much visualization and mental directing of Qi. I was surprised to discover that Teacher Hu's apparently much simpler, and mentally quieter practices, took me to a depth I had not previously encountered.

After six months of practice, I feel this is the most energetically 'tangible' meditation practice I have. Not only do I feel strong registrations from the meditation itself, but am sure it is improving the internal energetics of my long-term tai chi and Qi gong practices. The meditation and the practices seem to interplay and interact with each other, deepening both. I have also observed a stronger 'charge' when giving healing treatments and this is corroborated in feedback from clients, both in relation to the treatment itself, and the ongoing therapeutic effect they experience. It can be difficult to describe the intangible, but it is as if things have been 'notched up a level' since my stay on the Wudang Mountain.

Some of the Taoist theory and cosmology taught by Teacher Hu was familiar to me. But some I had not encountered anywhere before. I felt greatly inspired, as if a kaleidoscope had shifted, to provide new insights, understanding and inspiration. Whether new to the teachings of Inner Alchemy, or an experienced practitioner, I believe Teacher Hu's unique presence and knowledge come as a gift and heirloom to his students. The whole trip was an inspiration!   I highly recommend it.

In this 2008 retreat I have discovered an amazing practice that is having a deep, life-changing impact on me. I've been practicing it everyday since, and all I can say is...WOW (and I come from a 20-year background in Buddhist meditation). Not to mention the breathtaking places on Mt. Wudang, Italo's genuine care and skill in guiding the group, his organization of all aspects of our staying there: everything adds up to a unique experience that I will never forget, and that I highly recommend.

I traveled in 2008 for the Taoist Internal Alchemy Workshop on Wudang Shan, under the supervision of Teacher Hu. It was the greatest experience of my life. I found a true family and special friends during our study time together. Wudang Shan is really a magical Taoist place and the people are wonderful. In Wudang I found a sense of a life spent trying to reach the Inner Truth, the True Heart. Teacher Hu and master Zhang are amazing teachers and friends, and their patience, peace and competence are the characteristics of a real Taoist: a symbol for everyone embarking on the journey of inner research. We traveled by train to Wudang Shan for our stay in those mountains rich with magical nature and mystical air. I have studied Taoism for about 18 years, and this trip was really enlightening for me. Especially the study and practice of Taoist Alchemy meditation that only in that place, with those teachers, can you truly understand. To learn and study with those friends was a great spiritual experience that warms up your heart and lets you feel the seeds of Love, Peace, Harmony and Knowledge that grows deep within your heart. All in this trip was right and perfect, with fun and love. I thank you all! See you soon brothers and sisters!

Magical journey, mysterious mountains, deep meditations. Teacher Hu's meditations always took me to a place of stillness. Muriel was a great guide and host throughout the whole journey in China and she always ensured everyone's comfort and safety. Master  Zhang's graceful demonstration of the Tao Yoga form served as an inspiration to me to learn the form. I would recommend anyone to take the opportunity to practice this particular form of Tao Yoga. It feels wonderful to do the movements - it is beautifully flowing and very yin! Visiting China, going back to the roots of Taoism, Chi Kung and Tai Chi certainly enhanced my own practice and I am looking forward to returning one day.

Nature, Art, Discipline & Wonderment - Wudang Mountain 2007. "Nothing-ness" is what I learned; this one word only begins my long list of an absolutely incredible trip. Italio, I have met no other guide who does just that, he guides. He guides you to places of wonder not only of exterior vistas but of the interior as well. A trip is like no other because you will see China through his heart and soul. Wudang Mountain stands out as a teacher on this journey - amongst the many other wise teachers that Master Hu shares. I thank you Italio and Muriel for an amazing experience in China!

In September 2008 I traveled to China for the Taoist Internal Alchemy Workshop. This really was a life changing experience and I feel like I can accomplish things now and do so much more than ever before - I FEEL GREAT !!!! The teachings and the Taoist Practices we were taught have changed my daily life. I now practice Tao Yoga, and it is helping to heal a decades-old injury. Doing Tao Yoga has given me back the power of balance and given me the ability to be in a place of great healing. The meditation practice and Taoist teachings have added much insight and new knowledge to a subject I have long been interested in but had trouble getting concrete information on. During meditation I learned a practice that really, really opened my Qi flow and gave me a huge insight that has been missing for years. This truly was a life changing time. This new meditation practice has enhanced my many years of practice in a powerful way.

I highly recommend this journey to anyone who would like to see China not only as a fascinating place to visit but as a magical inner journey as well. I cannot wait for the next tour and will never miss one!

Hello Teacher Guan and Hu,

How are you? Brett told me so much about you and his trip. What an amazing life you have! It is great that you’re passing on the knowledge and wisdom to others. It is so fortunate that Brett got to meet you. I always wonder how much karma plays a role in all this!

I’ve also been suffering from the effects of glandular fever, but my illness was not as severe as Brett’s. My main symptom has been tiredness. I’m a lot better now. However, I still tend to need a lot of sleep (10 hours) in order not to feel tired at all. Brett began to show me the practice yesterday (Sun). We did 2 sessions only yesterday.

In the first session yesterday, when I was in the beginning posture (Place Two Hands before Lower Abdomen), I felt a lot of saliva.

- Gradually, as we moved to other postures, my breathing was very slow and deep - the retention of my breath was a lot longer. This was very noticeable because my normal breathing tends to be shallow.

- There was a lilac colour (dark) that tended to fill the darkness that I was gazing into (Lower Dantian). The colour kept coming to fill any gap of darkness. Sometimes the colour was coming from the outer circle and going in. Sometimes the colour was coming out from the centre and spreading out. There were only a few times that the colour completely filled the darkness - the colour then was not strong, more like a haze and had a slight reddish tinge.

- I could feel tingling, electric sensations (qi, I guess) in different parts of the body. However, the feeling was cool, not warm. When I was in A Vulture Spreads its Wings posture, I felt strong wind going into my thumb and index finger of my right hand, making them both very full. However, the strong wind was still coolish. When I moved into the next posture (left hand in prayer position and right hand near the lower abdomen), I could feel the strong wind going into the middle finger of the right hand. This wind sensation was very strong, full and distinct - all the way to the fingertips, different from the tingling sensation.

- I felt energised after the session. My upper body felt light and my centre of gravity was low. What is surprising is that the salivation has been continuous even after the session and is still happening now on Monday. This is very unusual because especially since my illness, my mouth has been very dry. I found this absolutely amazing! I’ve never had so much saliva in my life!

In the second session yesterday (Sun), the darkness gradually turned into a haze of colour with a reddish tinge. The colour seemed to stay longer. Only a few times, gaps of darkness surfaced and patches of colour came to fill it up. When the darkness needed filling, the colour tended to be patches of lilac colour.

- I also heard a faint hissing sound for a while, as if little insects flapping their wings.

- I had the sensation of something (like air) stuck above my stomach. The sensation was released towards the latter part of the session.

- When I was in a variation of the Vulture Spreads its Wings position (palms facing up), I could feel the strong wind going into those 3 fingers of the right hand again and spreading also into the ring finger of the right hand. However, all the sensations I felt were still coolish. On the left palm, I could feel distinct sensation between the centre of my palm and the fingers.

- When I was in the next position (palms facing each other, left hand near lower abdomen and right hand just above chest height), I could feel qi on the back of my right hand and fingers. (When I did Standing qigong of embracing the tree, I felt warmth in the inside of my hand, but not the back of my hand.)

- I also felt strong tingling sensation in my head - as if atomised.
d     d     d
d     d     d

- The sensation of qi was still coolish. I was surprised because I could usually feel warmth in the Standing qigong.

- At the end when I was collecting the qi to the lower Dantian, I could see the lilac colour again. There was a lilac colour circular patch in the centre, surrounded by darkness. The darkness was then surrounded by an outer circle of lilac colour. The lilac colour from the outer circle kept going into the lilac colour patch in the centre. I felt energised after the session.

Much to my surprise, this morning (Mon) I woke up naturally at about 5.30am. I would usually be dead to the world sleeping. Waking up is not easy for me normally - it is very much like arising from death.

- I heard a faint hissing sound for a while again.

- The haze of colour was also more consistent - a bit denser, more whitish.

- When I was in another variation of the Vulture Spreads its Wings posture, one palm facing up and one palm facing down, I could feel that strong wind trying to get into the little finger of my right hand, but didn’t quite get there. The wind is still coolish.
In fact, I felt very cold after my practice, as if I was getting sick. I slept for a long time (over 3 hours after the practice) and I felt very cold during my sleep. I even felt cold after I had waken up.

- When I woke up, I felt strong jing stirring just above my genital area, even though I still felt cold. This is not a normal feeling for me.

I aim to do two more sessions today.

Teacher Hu, thank you for your time. Your feedback will be very much appreciated. I look forward to hearing from you soon.

Respectfully yours,

--- Tony Anna, Australia

I recently traveled to China to attend the DaMo Qigong & Taoist Internal Alchemy Workshop 2007. It was the experience of a lifetime! I went on the Taoist Sacred Sites tour and I was totally amazed at the rare places and people I was introduced to. Italio really put together a tour that covered all the things I wanted. Yes we saw the sights... Tienamen Square, Terra Cotta Warriors and the city of Shanghai. BUT, for me the most amazing things were the Temples and monks we met. Through  connections we were introduced to the most amazing teachers. I've been involved in martial arts for 28 years...I originally got involved because of the TV series "Kung Fu"...the teachings appealed to me. Unfortunately I never met a person I would say had truly mastered themselves. Over in China, because Italio knew the right people I met several!! The tour just couldn't have been put together better in my opinion. Great Hotels, Great restaurants, remote temples, tiny meals served by the monks...just unreal!!! Check the pictures to get a better idea. Throughout the tour an experience was created that I will never forget. We were a tough bunch to accommodate, too!!!  I thought I would never go back to China, but since I've been back in the States, I can't wait to go again!

I recently joined the intensive DaMo Qigong & Taoist Meditation training course in the QianShan area of Northern China. It was like nothing I could imagine. The range of sensations during the practice of heat, movement, and vibrations and to some extent emotions is really amazing. I have been suffering from asthma for several years and my past training in qigong and Taiji Quan has never given me these sorts of results so quickly. The instructor, Mr. Hu Xuezhi, is really knowledgeable, and able to answer any question that I have had about Taoism and Qigong theory. The hotel is situated in a national park with mountains in all directions. Among the hills and temples are lovely places to visit between practices. It is an ideal place to sit in tranquility.

--- Ivor, P. Liverpool, England

Dear Hu laoshi,

thank you very much for answering. Today is the third day of my damo practice and I'm surprised by the effects. Because I did years of sitting meditation before and also some different yijinjing qigong it all feels familiar to me.

The 3 hours daily practice is a kind of gongfu, hard work, but it's o.k.. I never felt my dantian so hot like these days. But it feels comfortable, especially in the B positions the flowing from middle to lower dantian feels great.

The first time in my practice I felt the complete du channel completely warm uprising until the forehead. I only have some problems to keep my mind in stillness because I'm busy with my arms.
But I think this is a question of time until I'm more familiar with the damo qigong.
Thank you for contacting me.

Just my pleasure. It's great for me to get corrections and suggestions to my learning practice and I'm thankful for that.

--- S.H. Philips, from Germany.

Dear master Guan, master Hu WeiZhi:

I started the 49 posture practice yesterday. After practicing for about 45 minutes a ball of Qi started to move up my Du channel and then down my Ren channel. It moved quickly taking only a few seconds for one course then it stopped after about 2 minutes. I felt very quiet and peaceful. Today's practice was more like it usually is when learning a new form. Patricia also started today.

Our plan is to work up to doing the whole set each day in three sessions, 1/3 of the 49 at each session, then once we are familiar enough we can be more flexible with the practice. Does this sound OK to you?

Also are there any herbs that you would recommend for us to take to build our Jing and Qi so that we are more ready for the training?

Sorry for so many questions, but since our time there will be short we want to be as prepared as possible with out being too focused on any particular outcome.
